Notes in Photoshop Elements 14
I arranged a selection of Artsy Transfers on the background paper (Trs Bon Artplay Palette Solid Paper #1), and then clipped duplicates of my photo to the bits and pieces (most of the stains and transfers) using different blending modes. It was interesting because as I did that, only parts of my photo were revealed so it was like a form of inverted masking.
To add in the rest of the image, I placed the photo on top of the layer stack as an overlay on multiply blending mode and, with inverted masking, used Artsy Brushes to fill in the gaps of the image.
Then, practicing new techniques I've learned in Anna's new Brushes class for Elements, I finger-painted with the smudge tool (who knew?), which allowed me to add color to the landscape that matched the sunset.
To finish, I stamped on a variety of brushes from the brush set, treated the big flower transfer on the left to a watercolor filter, and finished up with the egg, the birds, the title, and the journaling.
