Orchids at Sally's

One of my favorite cousins recently lost her battle with breast cancer. This layout celebrates a fun afternoon we spent together at a botanical garden in 2005. I had forgotten my camera and borrowed her husband's. He nicely copied them onto a CD for meremember when we did this? I had totally forgotten about the CD until I was attempting to make some order out of the chaos in my art room; the CD fell out and settled on the floor right by my feet. And I got to enjoy that afternoon all over again with my dear Cuz Sally.

Supplies:
Artsy Layered Template No. 24 ** New & On Sale **

UrbanStitchez Leaves No. 3 ** New & On Sale **

Process notes:
I tried really hard not to change the template that much, but there must be a wacky gene in my DNA that compels me to tweak things. Dang it! I enlarged the photo cluster and moved it more centrally on the page. Deleted the title and moved the text boxes underneath the photos. I clipped the same photo to each mask, creating a multi-frame. Placed a png of an orchid (found on Pixabay) on top of the photos. Ghosted another orchid photo behind the photo cluster and added some stains and UrbanStitchez Leaves for additional interest. Journaling completed my design.

Journaling if you're interested:
Cuz Sally and I spent a wonderful afternoon at the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. Although the entire place was quite breathtaking, my favorite area was the orchid room. I spent the afternoon snapping all kinds of exotic varieties. My inner flower freak was doing a silly, happy dance. This and the chocolate shop were the highlight of my visit.

I am so glad that I recently discovered the CD of these photos in my art room. Its a visual reminder of my dear Cuz Sally. Shes sending me much love from up above.

How perfect for the CD to appear at a time when you're missing your cousin and can enjoy her sweet presence through these spectacular photos! I love how the blended orchids in the background complement your images...lovely page of remembrance, Christy.

Wonderful story...and what a treat to be surprised with this Gift. Your page is beautiful and reflects the love behind it. Love the watercolor background...the framing...the journaling.
