This was the first time we got up at 2am to drive to a sunrise spot. The remote Racetrack Playa was a 3 1/2 hour drive. Remember 29 miles on an awful washboard dirt road, and that it was very cold. I changed from summer shorts to jeans and a heavy down jacket along the way.
