Missing Water

March 8 is the 13th anniversary of the day our 2-year-old granddaughter, Morgan, died. Every year I use this as an opportunity to remind people to attach furniture to the wall. Morgan died because she climbed a heavy dresser, and it fell over on top of her. Even if you don't have little ones in your home, it is a good idea. Earthquakes can topple book cases and entertainment centers. So instead of responding with condolences, please go to the hardware store and get the supplies, then use them.

The quotation on this page is from Anne Tyler's book, Back When We Were Grownups:

"People imagine that missing a loved one works kind of like missing cigarettes," he said. "The first day is really hard but the next day is less hard and so forth, easier and easier the longer you go on. But instead it's like missing water. Every day you notice the person's absence more.
Oh, Sharron! This quote and the subtle profile makes such a strong and yearning statement. Its beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. Its so true what you recommend. I hope people will heed your recommendations. Thank you. The quote is so true. Blessings to you and your family on this anniversary.

Beautiful! I am texting my nieces and nephews (who have small children) right now to make sure they have attached their furniture. Hugs.
