I love these pictorial brushes because they take me back to my rubber-stamp days when I put scenes together, and that was my intention here. Then while this was coming to life, Sherlock Holmes came to mind when he and Watson were on the train passing through the countryside to take up another case. Watson commented on the beauty he saw and Sherlock answered how all he saw was the perfect place to commit a murder. Well . . . all in ones point of view I guess.

Process Notes: Solid paper 2 from LAmour was the base I created this page. Placing and resizing the two brushes I used, I brought in the chocolate weathered paper and blended it to Vivid Light below the brushes in the layers panel. Using the sky overlay from the palette, I placed it at the top of the page of course and left it on Normal blend mode. The blossom overlay was place under the building on the left side and blended to Soft Light.
It was time to add some atmosphere and used glows and leaks to accomplish that. Using a warm glow over the left side brush, I blended it to Overlay which gave the impression the sun was trying to come out behind the top of the tree. Delightful! I used one light leak and duplicated it a couple times and moved them around over and under the brushes, resizing, rotating and blending.
From there I brought in all the little bits and pieces, moving them up and down the layers panel, wherever they worked best. Birds, tissue texture, tapes, word art, postage stamps and postmark. I typed out Sherlocks address and clustered it with the postage stamps and postmark at the top of the page.
I thought I was done, when I had another look at the brushes and wondered what they would look like duplicated and filtered, and thats exactly what I did. I used the halftone filter on the duplicates and blended those to Linear Burn and turning down the fill of the pastoral stamp on the right half of the page on the original layer and blending it to Overlay. And that is my homage to my rubber-stamp days.
