Color Challenge - So Very High

This photo of Autumn was taken by her cousin Dakota last fall when she visited him and her Aunt in Southern California. The background of the photo was nothing special, but I loved it of her doing what she loves.

Process Notes: After opening a new 12 x 12 file, I brought in the photo and several papers from the Sunflower kit to find the one I liked the best. Adding the Layered FotoBlendz No. 5 under the photo, I resized both photo and mask to fit the page. This was the foundation I was going to build the rest of the page.

Under the photo/mask, I brought in a couple of more masks and clipped papers to them and started playing with blend modes until I liked the look.

At this point I had to troubleshoot a little. The texture from the background paper was mottling Autumns face and hand and I didnt like that. After playing around with the mask the photo was clipped to, along with the other masks, I couldnt seem to smooth the texture out. Frustrated, I decided to get the shape tool and created a square below the photo/mask layer where I didnt want the texture to appear and clipped a solid white paper to it and with a layer mask attached to the square, I blended out the hard edges. That did the trick. I dont know if this is the way to do it, but it worked and thats all I cared about.

Adding the sunflower transfer on the left side of the photo/mask layers, I also added the sunflower brush from the kit in black to give it a little more dimension, then clipped the word art to it and placed the lace at the bottom edge of the page.

Using the word art in the kit for the title, I recolored it, duplicated it and recolored the bottom to a yellow from the kit and moved it down and to the right with the arrow keys. Both title layers are blended. I added the sunflower overlay next to it over the photo, resizing.

Other touches I added were splatters, the crocheted sunflower and flower thread. For added texture, I used the chevron texture, then using a a layer mask on the photo and a different strokes brush, I knocked out the top right corner of the photo. That finished this page.
Such beautiful muted tones you are crafting in your pages Barbara, and love the type - truly gorgeous page! Love your process; problem solving is all part of this creative journey I think and I don't think there is a right or wrong way there is just a way that works for each different page!
