Notes for Photoshop Elements 14

This is a page in a book I am creating for my son and daughter-in-law about their recent trip to Europe. I created a background from the Artsy Transfers to suit my photo, dragging in AT #1 and then, over it, AT #4. I blended in my main photo using inverse masking and then montaged in another photo (showing the view of the city from the balcony) on color dodge blending mode, layer-masking away the bits and pieces that were in the way. I duplicated that file on color burn blending mode to create a stronger suggestion of the cityscape. I worked on the title next, duplicating the view photo a few times and clipping it to the text using various blending modes, including the infrequently used exclusion mode (which gave the cool tones).

Because I wanted more texture, I dropped Artsy Paper # 3 randomly into the layer stack (PSE14 is great for randomly dropping things--I still don't get how to put things where I want them in the layer stack when I drag up from the photo bin), set the mode to multiply, and reduced the opacity to 34%. I repeated this move with Solid Paper #3 at 17% opacity to add a little brightness.

Lastly, I added the copper bead and the Beaded Threadz from the Word Art pack and, because it IS Barcelona, after all, added most of the spackle pngs in the Spackle Texture set to give my layout a feeling of antiquity.
