Grandfather

A photo of my grandfather when he was a child. Love the blonde curls and yes, that's a skirt on him. I guess it was much easier to change a diaper with a skirt rather than pants. Too many buttons!

Of the five children that my great grandmother had, only two lived beyond the age 11. We are so lucky to live in an age with modern medicine.

Process
Artsy paper 3 from APP For the Record was used as the base of the page. Artsy Transfers Hinterland_2 was opened up. The photo was clipped a transfer. The frame from APP For the Record was layered over the photo and clipped to it. A custom shadow was made to create depth. Some of the other layers in the AT were either moved, resized or deleted. A MultiMedia Document file (some of the layers turned off)was layered over the artsy transfer. A layer mask was added. The area that covered the photo was erased (hidden). The photo was duplicated and the child was extracted, then duplicated two more times with the blending modes changed to multiply, color burn and hard light. A word transfer was layered of the three images with the blending mode changed to color burn. Word art, embellishments, stitchez, splatters and textures were added to complete the page.

Thank you for looking!
I love the mention of the name Ids. It's a Frisian name, a province (Friesland) in the Netherlands.

lovely photo and heritage page. All the little boys used to wear skirts, indeed much easier to change (cotton) diapers..

Beautiful page Miki, love the change in the repetition of the photo on the right!!

Wow! This is just so great, Miki! The repetition. The oval. The chevrons. The stitches.

What a terrific page, and what an awful mystery. Yes, I feel the same about modern medicine. Love the repetition on the lower right and the use of that particular word transfer.

this is so beautiful! I love the repetition of the photo! Does not even look the same with the with crop of the photo in the oval - very clever! and i can't imagine losing 3 of my five children before they reached 11 - what heartbreak - thanks for sharing!
