For my youngest daughter's music album.

The template was perfect for my photos, as was the artplay palette, with its richness of texture and wind-blown foliage, perfect for depicting a blustery night on a rooftop at my daughter's band's record release party. But I needed a few different colors to convey the night-time setting and the Fleetwood-Mac-ness of it all.

Enter Difference Blending Mode, which enabled me to create just the sort of magical darkness that I was looking for.

My formula was this: solid paper #3 on normal + solid paper #5 on multiply + solid paper #6 on difference. This yielded a dramatic blue, which I then morphed to lilac on the top with the addition of overlay #3 from the Artplay Palette, recolored to match the purple in the photos, on color dodge mode.

I used all the layers of the template except for one stain, and changed only one blending mode on a transfer from normal to color burn. Other things I did to compose this layout: blend the large photo with a Fotoblendz, create a vinyl record to add to my wordART, drag a spooky glow behind the title, and duplicate and flip the branch for embellishment.
