Writing a book had been a dream of mine ever since I was a child. I was a voracious reader, and wished I could write my own book. There were many childish starts, but I never got past the first couple of pages.. Then in my 30's, now the mother of three children and caught up in the "Dress for Success" fad, when I saw that John Molloy, the author of the book was going to be on a local TV station, I called and asked the host to question Mr. Molloy as to how a stay-at-home mom could dress for success. The host actually asked him the question, but his answer was wrapped up in how she could dress to be of best help to her husband's career. I realized he would have no idea what I was talking about, so I decided to write a book about it! I did nothing but write (pre-computer-days) for about a week. Some days I didn't even get dressed. It thrilled me when a publisher accepted my manuscript, gave me an advance, and got as far as my reading proofs before deciding to not publish it after all.
A few years later, I wrote a "cozy" murder mystery for which I have never found a publisher. I've got another one in the works, but I keep getting sidetracked by digital art!
