Olivia's first day of Senior Kindergarten came without all the
typical first day of school jitters, that a child of the wee age
of five experiences. She was so excited to go back to school,
to see her friends, meet her new teachers and likely to be 100%
honest to be away from me, and her little sisters. At the end
of every single summer, I often sit and wonder what life would
be like if there was NO school, or what it would be like to
HOMESCHOOL them? I know with 5 at home and me attempting to
teach them, things would be alot different. But I despise the
whole premise of school sooooo much. I hate having my girls
away from me for the entire school day, I really dislike alot
of the things that happen at school BUT due to financial
reasons we just aren't able to have them home for me to
teach them. The lessons we learned in kindergarten truly are
the lessons that will get us through this lifetime. To share, to be kind, to
wait your turn, your ABC's and how to count to 100. After that the rest is really just the icing on
the cake. The lessons that they are learning from grades 1 thru 10 right now UGH, some of them I wish
they never had to learn. The things they hear, see and experience make me want to lay down and cry somedays.
Lacey learned more about things in the hallways last year in Grade 9 then I ever wish she had to know at
her age. Danielle has learned that if you try to walk away from a bully it really only makes things worse.
And even my little Olivia has learned that she is different than her friends. And complains about her
curly hair and the color of her skin. I know that we can't protect them forever nor do I want my girls to
grow up in a bubble or shelterd, but I would like them to be able to enjoy their childhood's without all the grown up pressures of the world today!
