I was inspired by the surrealist photographer Man Ray, born in Philadelphia in 1890 and died in Paris in 1976.
I used his photo called " le violon d'Ingres", a portrait of his friend Kiki de Montparnasse made in 1924. Man Ray himself was inspired by the french painter Jean-Auguste INGRES who made two paintings called "Bain Turc" and "La Baigneuse", where we can see also an almost naked woman wearing a turban.
The expression " le violon d"Ingres" in French is the equivalent of a hobby, or an passion. It seems that Ingres played frequently his violon when he didn't paint, that explains the signs on the back of the woman.
I used only Black & White with a little bit of sepia, while Man Ray made only B&W photo's
I used only some simple AAspnes brushes and warmglows.
