48 years. The estate. Mother saved the dress.
And the train, but it was windy. 42 degrees.
Ricks ashes are there. The mountain goats.
Glacier Mountain 12,495 ft. Still snowfields
in August. Sts. John Road 1 1/2 hrs. one way.
Journaling:
It was a two-day effort. We packed the dress and when we got to the top of the mountain it was badly wrinkled. Back in Silverthorne we had fun waiting for check-in at the outlet mall. Remember my new hat and sunglasses, and how we ironed the dress and planned our redux.
Rick was my first husband; we married in 1968. My mother "disowned" me but kept my wedding dress. It still fits me, so Stone and I decided to drive up where we placed Rick's ashes, to take photos of me in it. Glacier Mountain gets few visitors because it's hard to get to, but a place where I could change into the dress with nobody around and so incredibly scenic for two months out of the year. I carefully packed the dress, but it was a hot mess the first day, so we repeated the whole get-up-at-3:30-am routine, and staged the dress on top of the load.
