This Silent Barn series was supposed to end at #6 but I extended it for one more composition. As you can see from the list of supplies, this was the layout where I experimented with a whole bunch of AnnaBrushes to add texture to both the overall layout and to the title in particular. I tried to use the brushes to construct an edge, but I wound up going back to one of my favorite edge overlaysthe Postage setinstead, and stacking two of the overlays (one at reduced opacity). Because I had a lot going on, I needed to apply bits of lighting here and there, so I did that by dabbing on stains in a peachy color and setting them to soft light.
The Artsy Transfersand I used a lot of themwere spread all over the place. I love them because it makes it easy to add texture and color in interesting ways right where I want it without having to figure out how to do it by myself.
The images themselves come from five video stills of the boys on bikes, which I ran through the watercolor filter and then desaturated. As usual in this series, I overlaid photos of the field for texture, and the barn that I've been using from textures.com. It's deep in the background at the top, so barely visible, but it IS there.
