Dress Better

This is a total experiment on my part, stretching into a new realm, using PS tools in a new way, and finding ones I didnt even know about. Lately Ive been into taking photos of shop windows. On my way to getting my morning coffee at work, I pass a hat shop with this wonderful mannequin in the window, always wearing a different hat. Shes usually wearing a goofy kind of hat, but this particular morning she was all dolled up in a posh hat, so I had to take a photo of her. Thought she would look good blended into this silver teapot with a scarf spilling onto the sugar bowl and adding this wonderful quote. Dress like youre going somewhere better later. Love that quote.

Process Notes: This layout is a composite of three different photos blended together using the gradient tool, brushes, levels, curves, brightness and contrast, gaussian blur, hue and saturation, texture filters and a photo filter and of course using various blending modes throughout with opacity changes where needed.

Using Annas supplies, I blended another texture into the background with a lacey paper from APP Blossom, added tape with a slight bevel and emboss, as well as tissue textures, also given a bevel and emboss. I placed the light leak over my lady, blending that also to give her a little more punch. I gave the grapes a wee bit of color where there wasnt any.

Adding stains, splatter, overlay to border the page, and flourish at the top of the page along with the quote, which I artsied up, finished the page.

The great thing about PS, is all the experimenting you can do and none of it is carved in stone. If something doesnt work you can just get rid of it and try something else. And I love the surprises when something comes out much better than anticipated. Using Annas supplies just kicks it up a notch, adding to the overall look of a layout that would otherwise be lacking that something extra special. They really are so much fun to play with just because you can use them in so many different, unexpected ways.
You're in Graduate School, girl! ...and I so agree with your last paragraph. I love the "WHAT IF" factor with PS.

Great image-on-image concept. The thing I find I have come to love about PSElements over hand-made mixed media is the ability to do just this sort of juxtaposition. The edges are really cool, too--I've been so into edges lately....
