Go Cal Go

This photo was taken by Cal's Dad (my son, Zach) during a session of physical therapy. I attend his sessions occasionally and always am amazed at the collaboration of therapist, parents, and child. Cal also has an occupational therapist and a speech/language therapist who work with the challenges of eating, drinking, verbal expression, and signing.

I think I will journal on the companion page about developmental expectations. We continue to practice noting the developmental charts without letting the expectations steal our joy of celebrating each tiny, yet momentous, ounce of progress. The average age to begin walking in a child with down syndrome is 25 months (with a range of 14-42 months). Cal is 19 months and according to his family and friends...his timeline of progress is absolutely perfect!

Cal, we are so proud of you!
Here, you and Susan are doing
physical therapy. Susan has
been coming to your house once a
week since you were about a month
old. The two of you have become
great friends. Now with a little
help from your shiny, gold walker,
you can walk all the way through
the house and back! I love the
proud look on your face in this
photo. Grammi wants you to know
we all feel super happy when we
see that big grin of yours!
It won't be long before you're
walking on your own all over
the place!

Oh look how proud he is. I can imagine Zach being just as proud as are you x

What a cutie. And he's being given every chance. How wonderful is that. Great page.

Yes, I feel his pride and your pride and everyone's sense of accomplishment. He is so cute in this photo! I agree with Tamsin that his care team is wonderful.

amazing what love and caring can accomplish. Cal is surrounded by love and his progress reflects it. and the joy on his face and that smile always melts my hearti'm sure you and his parents are bursting with pride with each expectation met. (my nephew has CP and has had several therapists that he adores...funny how he always shows off for the cute girls.)

"Go Cal Go" is right! Look at his face! I think of that saying "it takes a village to raise a child" and I think to myself--Cal has a fabulous "village." What a great vibrant page to document your joy and pride!

Go Cal and what a gorgeous smile! Such a handsome little man. Wonderful moment, Marnie.

Wonderful journaling and documentation! Love the progress that Cal is making! He has a big cheering section!

That is so amazing, Marnie -- he is surrounded by so much love and support - look at that smile on his lil face - how precious is that! We celebrate this milestone with you ;)
