Captain's Log

I love tall ships, I think theyre the most beautiful things on the water. When I was little I would spend hours drawing them. I would have them on stormy seas, in calm waters and lots of times full sail. I would imagine pirates and their treasures. All of it seemed so romantic to me at the time. Sometimes I would even add a whale. I remember one drawing in particular where the viewer was peaking at a tall ship at anchor through tree branches. I wish I still had those drawings.

Process Notes: With an action I made the photo into an illustration and placed it on solid paper 5 and then moved in several artsy transfers and glows over and underneath the photo, blending to create a stormy atmosphere.

Using the bits and pieces of the psd artsy transfers I rotated, resized and blended away, all of it very experimental. There is no set recipe for doing any of this, its just play time.

I brought in the oasis stamp and placed it at the bottom left resizing and clipping a cool glow to it, leaving it on Normal blend mode and turning down the opacity. I added the map at the bottom right, recoloring, resizing and turning down the opacity. At the top left corner I tucked in the word art and map, recoloring, blending to Multiply and turning down the opacity.

Adding the title, button, button thread, arrows and float completes the layout. Most of this layout consists of the artsy transfers, theyre a lot of fun to use.
Love your tall ship and the way you make the sky so big just by adding some clouds behind the boat.

Oh I'm in LOVE! What an amazing layout! The colors, the textures...everything yells romance at sea. Congratulations on a great work of art.

Fabulous!! Love the texture, the colors and those ships!! This remixed me of some painting I made during the secondary school. I also lost them because we had to leave them at school until the end of the school term and at the end they weren't there anymore...

Absolutely stunning ... so well deserved the Standing O!
I 've selected your Standing O at the FB page of Oscraps for tomorrow.
