2016May4 Lucifer's warbler

One of our target birds was a Lucifer's hummingbir. I had seen the female in Texas but the male is gorgeous. MaryJo said the hummer comes between 4:30pm and 6:30 pm and like feeder #8. Well after I had seen the fox I headed to feeder 8. Well around 5:30 the male showed up and I got this photo. notice his purple gorget and long curved bill

a wonderful photo. you've captured so many wonderful poses. it's almost as if the birds want you to snap them!

an amazing photo of a beautiful bird. I love how your guide had such precise information :) he deserves a page all to himself...beautiful!

Hummingbirds are so much fun to watch and you got a fabulous shot of this one. They can be so territorial. I had a bee balm plant in my patio garden and every evening a certain hummingbird would come to feed on it, then hide in it, scaring off any other hummingbird that tried to feed from it. He was like a fighter jet coming out of the plant so quickly, surprising the unsuspecting hummingbird. It was hilarious to watch!
