There Were Whales

This is a rogue lift of Miki's beautiful piece, which you can see here https://ozone.oscraps.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=351095. I fell in love with her light and texture, so followed Miki's process steps pretty exactly except for choosing different transfers and embellishments and adding journaling and a selfie with me and my daughter in a thin black frame.

Work notes:
Like Miki, I started with solid paper #3 from APP Summery. Then, just like she did, I added the large photo and stamped a variety of artsy brushes on top. I made a duplicate of the photo for each brush and clipped the duplicates to the brushes, experimenting with a variety of blending modes.

I duplicated the photo/brush layers and merged them together, then duplicated the merged layer with the blending mode changed to hard light. From there I layered on several transfers from the Heartland APP, again using various blending modes, just as Miki had done.

At this point Miki went in and added texture to her photo with the brushes and I did the same thing, layering on more artsy brushes in soft light blending mode. Because my page is about watching a pod of whales, I also added a spatter splash on the photo to show the approximate location of our frolicsome foursome.

To complete my page, I added the branch and tucked in the framed selfie, then added word strips, buttons, a brad, and a ButtonThreadz, which I recolored from black to white.
What an awesome work of art. I love the effects on your beautiful photo and really enjoyed reading your journaling.

I will have to try that technique also because as with Miki's layout, I love the end result you achieved. Looks like one of those old color saturated postcards. How exciting to see those whales even though you couldn't get a good photo. And I love the photo of the two of you. Fabulous page!

love the page! all the texture and lighting gorgeous! and how fun to see the photo of you and your daughter! and to see whales awesome!

Thank you for the compliment, Laura! This is outrageously beautiful (amazing photo)! Love all the texture and the gorgeous photo of you and your daughter!

Love the way you've blended your photo into the framed photo!!! Wonderful page!
