When I came upon these sunflowers this weekend, I thought, oh, perfect for the color challenge. Turns out there is a lot more color here than in the challenge colors, but I did use a brown b/g ;-)

These arent my sunflowers. I came across these
sunflowers in the little town of Point Richmond, where we went to visit the Model Train museum. It was most unexpected to encounter the historic little town, let alone the central area planted with beautiful wildflowers and natives, including these strong, bushy sunflowers already in full bloom.
My sunflowers are budded, standing nearly five feet straight up on rather spindly but adequately strong stems in their pots that get
watered with gray water from the kitchen, their lower leaves all but gone (do they need fertilizer?) but still they are budding, and I am excited to think I will have my own home-grown sunflowers this year. Megan likes sunflowers. I hope I can pick one and bring it to her before the summer is over.
