In a world of computers and video games, it's easy to overlook the profound developmental impact unstructured, imaginative play can have on a child. For over a century (founded in 1899) Smith Playground has dedicated itself to that premise. Nigel and I have been coming here since he was a baby. It's right around the corner from the Philadelphia Zoo (where we've been members since Nigels birth). So we'd often split up our day by watching the big cats or primates, having lunch and then going to the playground. It's honestly not in the greatest of neighborhoods, but on the flip side of that, it's enabled Nigel to meet and friend kids from various races and socio-economic backgrounds. It's been the perfect venue in helping Nigel create understandings of his world and how people interact! But apart from all the deeper issues, the playground equipment itself is off the hook!!! The playground centers on a huge five story mansion filled with toys!! Our favorite is the Giant Wooden Slide ... 15' wide and 40' long. You go down five at a time in burlap sacks. So much fun it should be illegal! lol.
I used Anna's Hipster Plumes Korners and Edges #7 and APP Natural Instinct
