Ive been trying to remember when first I saw the Golden Gate Bridge. I dont remember the exact moment, but I remember the trip and the circumstances. It was perhaps my first business trip with IBM, must have been about 1982 or 84, and I drove up with one of my colleagues, that pretty southern girl, I dont
remember her name. We drove over the bridge and I think we stopped at the north view point. I didnt have a camera, and of course this was long before cell phones. We drove into Muir Woods along 1, but it was early in the year and stormy, so when we stopped at a little inn, they said they were not serving any food that day. We headed back south and stopped in Mill Valley for some Mexican food. I got food
poisoning that night. I have not forgiven Mill Valley, I have never stopped there since.
Certainly the current love starts with Megan. Remember all those trips in the summer of 2004? Even though those all brought me downtown, thats when it began. When Lisa & Natalie were here in 2013, I remember how excited Nat was to get pictures of the bridge. And thats when I first noticed people biking over the bridge, something we would do shortly thereafter and again on Tods birthday in 2014. Almost all the more recent pictures are all thanks to Cher, oblivious of the span, only aware of the soft sand beneath her paws, the lapping waves, the ducks, the sticks, the pinecones, the crab parts, the fresh sea air, the other dogs.
