Process:
Like life, this was an exercise in figuring out where I was going (and part of my continuing experiment with creating depth in my layouts).

I started with the lady and loaded her up with clocks. I pulled in a couple of Artsy Transfers to get started with shape and color. One of the transfers suggested an exit, so I stamped on a series of Architectextures to make the portal. Keys seemed a natural addition once I had the doorway, so I added that to the clock bouquet, and then some flowers. I extracted petals from the branch in the artplay palette and scattered them in front of the door, as an invitation.

Next I filled in the bottom of the design with a photo of the chalkboard-style wallpaper I had snapped in the bathroom of a brewpub after a recent hiking adventure. (The word art and architectural shapes are part of the wallpaper. I wound up reinforcing the outlines of the letters by hand-painting with a blending brush.)

Once all this was done, I added the birds, birdcages, and butterfly as final touches.
You amaze me with your diverse talent! Love all the intricate items to look at! Beautiful art!

wow. fantastic composition. love the colours and vintage feeling.

so dark and intriguing, wonderful depth! great collection and clustering of clocks! COOL brush work on the words on the bottom, and a great idea!

love the lighting and the petals as an invitation to enter. the depth in your pages is getting more and more interesting.
