Resources: Photo of bridge by my son Peter Tringali 3
Vintage photo and copyright-free bird prints
Process: When I saw my son's bridge photo, I started to think about life's roads and my three grown children, which inspired me to create a PhotoPhantasy Self-Portrait from a vintage photo, head of a bird, and Anna's Take Flight digital supplies. I created a background with my son's photo blended into an artsy paper on multiply mode and then proceeded to fill up my landscape with birds. Making sure to leave room at the bottom for the journaling, I used a variety of layers from the Artsy Transfers and the Artplay Palettes to create clouds and a dynamic sky, and to add texture in places such as on the woman's skirt. I applied light by adding brush strokes in a peachy color from various aA brushes on different blending modes--a technique recently learned from Adryane (thanks!). I finished with the branch and lace trim just for some dimension, and added a fill layer over the book (to make it pop). The finishing touch was the beautiful Viaggio page overlay to roughen up the page edges.
