Journaling: Let me tell you a little about what I see. Grandma Mandy (far left) has the sideways glance I have come to see as her trademark look but more interesting ... shes wearing a short skirt (I can see her knees!) and is that skin I see in her midsection? Scandalous. If this were a game show and the answer was Grandma Mandy on the beach in shorts and a halter for $1,000-I would have said, What is not in a million years. Standing next to my great grandmother, you see my maternal grandfather. I recognize the glasses and the smile, and the trousers with a belt, but no shirt? My grandfather was always dressed, just like his father, Grandpa Mandy on the far right. In fact, Grandpa Mandy is, if you will, in character. He was, based on family murmurings, not a very warm person (notice how hes separated himself from the group) but he was always impeccably dressed. I am sure there is a jacket and tie neatly folded over a beach chair somewhere off to his left. I have no idea who the affectionate couple are in the photo. Most likely friends and not relatives. The woman sitting is Annie. She was my maternal great aunt. This was taken before she went blonde. Her role in the family was always marginalized despite her vivacious personality. So, when I see her sitting while everyone else is standing I think two things makes sense and what a lovely piece of irony because my eyes go to her first when I look at the photo. The other recognizable face is my grandfathers brother, Myron. He seems to be wearing a turtleneck. Sensitive to the sun? My memories of Myron are faint. I remember him as a nice man with a friendly smile. Finally, whenever I look at my old photos I try to identify the photographer. Sometimes, it provides a little additional perspective. Here, I have no idea. It could have been a passerby or maybe its the person who would have filled the gap between Grandpa Mandy and the rest of the group.

Thanks for looking :)
love your photo box project. you always create an artsy page with it.
i also love your description of ideas und thoughts and persons.
gorgeous soft colours, brilliant, not using blue (for the beach), but rose-sepia tones. very extravagant.

Ok.. It's perfectly journaled and artfully designed but here's my take..Great aunt Annie was the trendy one,the standoffish one knew the photographer, arranged the shoot and the unknown couple just happened to be on the beach. The person who took the photo, knew enough to arrange them in a pleasing lineup..the uncle with the turtle neck was wearing his special event clothing.Grandma was not enthused by some stranger taking her photo and was reluctant to participate.Great layout !

Your journaling hits me first, then the characters in the photo and finally your beautiful background that creates more vertical lines!! Great work with the transfers!
