This was an experiment in color, using all the ArtsyTransfers to cover the canvas. It was also an experiment with creating some of the masking effects explained by Adryane here: https://ozone.oscraps.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=344582&title=a-1000-words&cat=1351
The journaling reads: Did you know that when I was little I used to love to make up songs and belt em out, just like you? I had a little tape recorder that Id sing into--I was always surprised at how the playback seemed to make my voice higher, kind of like Minnie Mouse, but I liked it anyway. I didnt have friends to sing with, and my parents expressed interest only when visiting relatives, where they could use my singing as a bragging point, urging me to take the floor. Pretty embarrassing, but they had ways of making me comply. Other than that, my talent, if you want to call it that, remained unremarked. It wasnt encouraged but was occasionally critiqued, as in Why dont you learn something nice, which was code for Bobby Vinton. Pretty soon I stopped singing--I couldnt stand being dragged out like a performing monkey. Now I cant even carry a tune. But you sure can, and I love to watch the baby steps of your bands success. Its not a vicarious thing, although I do relish every detail, but more of a satisfaction that, as silly as it seems, your music has become a sort of antidote to the poison that took away my own. Process:
I dragged all the Artsy Transfers onto my canvas, then moved the layers around, using them like paint. I added Fotoblendz Overlay 8-2 and clipped the large photo of my daughter to it. Then I slid in the small photos. I added a selection of the ArtsyTransfers on top, masking areas away as needed, having a particularly good time with the stains, which are luscious. To deepen the purple at the top of the page I tinted FotoBlendz Overlay 8-5, masking off the excess purple. I added a light swirl with the custom shape tool, backed it up with a FotoGlo from the MultiMedia bird set, added the birds, and then flattened the file. From there I experimented with Adryane's process (see the link above), using the ThinStrip and ModGrunge masks as well as a set of taped textures.
