Fierce John, by Edward Fenton, is a children's book that I use to read to my son when he was 3. He loved the story so much that we made the costume so he could act out the story. Years later, my grandson fell in love with the story also. After his bath, with his lion towel on, he would always roar like a lion.

Process
I began with Artsy Layered Template 219 by turning off all the layers except the frames. Solid paper 4 from APP Sweet Baby was used as the base for the page. The large paint layer was deleted and replaced with a simple fotoblendz mask. The images were clipped to the masks. The window frame was layered behind the large photo. A layer mask was added and the parts that showed through were brushed out so that there were no marks on the face. A layer mask was added to the large heart paint layer and the edges were cleaned up a bit. A paper from Artplay Chevron Sweet Baby was clipped to the paint layer. I began turning the hidden layers on, recoloring, moving or deleting them. Paint splatters, hearts (brush 4 from APP Sweet Baby and Urban Stitchez Hearts 2), buttons, magic sprinklez and word art were added to complete the page.
