A Google Cardboard VR headset, shown assembled and with a phone in the visor slot. Made as a cheap, open standard by Google to encourage use and development of Virtual Reality, Google Cardboard is an inexpensive container and plastic lenses designed to turn a phone or small tablet into a VR headset. This particular model came free with the New York Times as part of a promotion on November 8th, 2015.

Well, this is cool and beautiful on many levels! Color, texture and that string of stitching, plus the cardboard image! I have a Cardboard but somehow it doesn't do anything for me; I may not be enough of a VR geek ;-)

I saw this on television -- and it looked like the grandma was over for Christmas -- had never ridden on a rollercoaster -- and they strapped one of these to her .... you could probably hear her squeals of laughter for blocks around as she experienced her first "ride". How fun -- worth a 12 pack of Barq's!
