My word for 2016 is courage. This layout looks backward to 2014 as a reminder to myself and my daughter that growth and change take work and heart, but the results are so worth it. Wishing all my digifriends a healthy, peaceful, and productive 2016!

Process:
This is a composite of two garden photos with lots of gradient blending. I used transfers from the Artplay Palette both as a clipping mask and to add light to the background.
I started with the background based on the colors in my photos, blending a solid and artsy paper together. I added a transfer and clipped the smaller photo to it, then put in the larger photo of the pond behind it, blending it into the background with the gradient tool. I duplicated the large pond photo, put it on top of the layer stack, and used gradient masking to produce a distressed feel over the entire layout. I supplemented this texture with overlays from the Artplay Palette and copyright-free texture from the internet, using gradient masking to make everything meld together. The birds came next, then the wordART and the MultiMedia rain elements. I added the journaling last, duplicating some of the lines of type and distressing some of the words with one of my favorite brushes: AnnaBlendzArtsyNo4_2.
