PCH - North Torrey Pines Road Bridge

This bridge, and Torrey Pines grade (the road going up the hill abive the bridge in the photo, with its deep erosion in the sides of the hilside) are 2 of the things I remembered as hitting me hard with its beauty, when I first moved out to San Diego. The bridge was built during the depression, finished in 1933, and it joined the communities of DelMar and Torrey Pines, spanning the railroad below, and edged by the Pacific Ocean. It is one of the many spectacular sights along the hundreds of miles on the Pacific Coast Highway, or SR101.

Process Notes: I began with an Artsy Paper from APP Chills. I blended the photo unto the turquoise area in the center of the paper. I then began layering the photo, playing with different blend modes, and masking different portions to best enhance the photo. I added a simple thin white frame, and then duplicated the frame, increased the size just a bit, and then using the Magic Wand Tool, selected the white frame, and changed the outer frame color to lime green. I then masked out portions of both frame. I added the key element at the lower left of the frame, and added the word strip and stitching. I added a sky transfers from APP Explore to enhance the sky, modifying its color to cyan, and then added the title along the horizon, and then added the 3 brads, changing their color to lime green.

Thanks for looking
Gorgeous, Joanie! Your blending is amazing and love how the photo extends beyond the frame!
