Say Cheese

Journaling reads: Cora had so much fun making believe she was taking photos with Pops old film camera. I wonder what great shots she would have gotten had the camera actually had film in it.

Process Notes: I began with the Artsy Layered Template No. 210. I added the two photos to the clipping masks of the frames. Once placed, I used levels on both photos, as they were quite dark. I then added a cardstock from APP Autumn Rust. I desaturated the cardstock just a bit. I then began modifying the various layers of the template, making certain that they matched the colors found within the photo. I then took copies of the photos and placed them in the two white paint areas of the template. I placed the photos on blend mode color burn, and then used the inverted masking technique to these larger copies of the photos, blending them unto the white paint areas of the template. The original photos were quite dark, which worked well when using blend mode color burn, and I then brought the opacity of each of these larger photos to about 60%. I added a few of the elements and transfers from APP Autumn Rust, as well as portions of a variety of the new ArtsyTransfers from both Autumn Rust and Time. I added the title, giving it an outer stroke, and a shadow, and then added the charm element, making it look like the string wrapped around the title text, by masking out portions of the string. I then created a custom path for the journaling, to have it follow the edge of the string. I added the AutumnWordART, and the FotoWordMix, as well as the various Urban Stitchez. As a finishing touch, I added the Edge overlay, changing the color to the soft blues from the photo, and added the camera brad, and camera transfer from APP Snapshot.
