Dream of the sea

This is my granny, my mother's mum Margaret. My mum tells me that this photograph was taken in my granny's cousin's garden; apparently Granny wanted a photograph taken in her swimsuit but only in this garden with a high hedge so no one could see... In the back ground is my uncle, killing himself laughing! I wanted an urban setting so found a photograph online of the village main street where she lived and have used that and then used a scottish beach photograph in the swimsuit.

I extracted the figure, duplicated twice with the top layer on hard light. In between are various transfers from AP Heart beach and stains, textures and paints from Heart Beach Artsy Transfers. It was a case of moving them around until I got a composition I was happy with. I clipped the street photograph to a fotoblendz and positioned in the background, duplicated and changed the top layer to soft light. The frame, starfish and ribbon are sandwiched between transfers to bleach out the colours slightly and give a worn aged appearance. I then layered more stains and textures on colour burn, multiply and colour mode. The composition of the original photograph actually had my uncle at the left hand side but I didn't like that composition on the page so I clipped to a brush and then positioned behind granny on colour mode. The beach photograph is on hard light mode; I positioned on top of the swimsuit and then erased the parts I didn't want. Lastly I adden a quote from Subtle Quotes Beach replacing the O letter with buttons from the AP.

Love the story! I love the photo and the orange paint and buttons in the word art.

love how you told the story in many artistic ways. especially the swimsuit beach scene.

This is so wonderful! great photo, love the idea of clipping a photo to it, and the use of the village in the background is brilliant!
