Ride

While doing a layout earlier this week, I realized just how many photos I have yet to scrap of my dd, when she took riding lessons, so you all may be seeing quite a few horse layouts in the near future ;)

My Process: I had a real hard time creating a layout, and had just about given up when I opened up the ArtsyLayered Template 105 and decided to give it one more try. I actually dragged in the photo, already partially masked, unto the template, along with the background color, and everything began to fall into place. I first I was going to place the image on the white paint area where the doily is, but then I decided to rotate the template, and dragged the photo to the 3 frames. I liked the look of it, roughly masked, and for ease, just duplicated the background paper, clipping it to each mask in each frame. I then decided to move the 3 frames to the upper right portion of the layout, and then took the backdrop that was under the frames, rotated it and dragged it up to the right mid portion of the layout, changing the one paint layer to the deep yellowish-brown, giving the photo a nice base. At this point I began dragging in various ArtsyTransfers from both Wilderness and Mountain High, testing different areas, to see how they would work. Dragging them in from explorer, brings them in as one flattened transfer. Once I had an idea of what transfers I would use, I then delete the flattened transfer and bring them in as the layered transfer, turning some layers off, moving others, and changing the colors of some as well. I brought in various brushes and transfers from AP Summer Breeze, including the colorful glows, which were placed under transfer layers, giving a slight color change to the area. I also added a green wash of paint from AP Summer Breeze, and placed it along the bottom of my linear design, just above the background paper, and placed it on blend mode screen, which gave the area a slightly washed out look. I added the WordArt, placing it on blend mode divide, and placed one of the softened glows directly under the heart, to help it stand out a bit more. I added the loopdaloop, duplicating it, lowing Its opacity, and then warped it a bit to look like a shadow. I finished the layout with the large title Ride, in which I added both a stroke and custom shadow. I was so happy I hadnt given up, as I had been quite frustrated with the many other pages I had started, and didnt like. It is always good to end a layout session on a good note. ;)
