still experimenting with gradients and the embossing fx in ps.
i found a paint-by-number i did for my grandmother when i was about 7 (it came back to me some 30 years later when the house was sold). it is of flowers on black velvet.
i tried to replicate that look but this looks more like foil than oil. this also looks darker here than in ps.
i will keep trying

i stamped the mountain high brush on a new layer. i added a color gradient then an embossing effect from photoshop (fx menu). i searched through the different strokes for some brushes that would make good trunks and that could be used in the foreground i also used on of the watercolor tree brushes and adjusted its width so that it was very skinny. the bokeh is added under all of the other layers and reduced in opacity. i framed the trees, then added the gold paint layer over the frame layer.
