Beach Fun

Journaling reads: You had turned four years old just the day before. We decided to bring you to Coronado Beach, close to where your dad had lived when he was quite young. You enjoyed running through the surf, trying hard to not let the waves catch you, and you loved digging in the sand. That day we also brought Rons avalanche beeper, and buried it in the sand for him to find - good practice for his Ski Patrol work. I remember how warm and sunny it was for an April day.

The Process: I began with a neutral background paper, and placed a few of the new ArtsyTransfers Break Away. They layered so beautifully to create a beautiful base. I added the photo, and blended out the edges. I placed the photo on blend mode Hard Light. I then duplicated the photo, and placed the upper photo layer on back on blend mode Normal, but brought down the opacity to about 20%. I then slowly painted out portions of this photo out, using a soft brush at a low opacity, until I got the desired result. I added the frame, and the stitching, and then added the title, choosing two hues from the photo for the title alphas. I added the string element, and then the journaling. I then brought in a background paper from AP Blossom (all lace), and blended in just the lower left corner of it unto the page. I added the glow from the Roots Sampler, along with a Light Leak over the photo, placing it on blend mode Overlay. I finished up by adding a few additional brushes and transfer elements from AP Break Away, AP Blossom, and the Roots Sampler.
