It's Raining!

Journaling reads: We in San Diego can actually get rain, mostly in October, and then again in March, but for the remainder of the year, the phrase It never rains in Southern California is pretty much a true statement. For us, we often celebrate the 3 minutes of rain that is more a mist than anything else. For Cora, it was enough to get the ground wet, but not much more, but still she was so excited to get all dressed in her rain gear, rain boots and all. Her umbrella was pretty much bigger than her, but still she had so much fun.

The Process: I began with the ATL #188. I had 3 photos I wanted to use, and since two of them had the umbrellas cut off in the photo, I rearranged the frames on the template, plus added one. This allowed me to have the umbrealls extend off the page. In doing that, I opted to move the journaling box and the title box to the space between the photos. Once the photos were clipped to the frames clipping mask, I duplicated the photo, and then extracted just Cora and her umbrella. I placed this layer on top of the frame layer. I then added a shadow to each to make her stand out a bit more. I then began isolating each layer on the template, and modified their colors and/or blend modes. I added the journaling, and then the title. To main title, I added a stroke and a shadow. I then added the MM Umbrella, masking out a portion of the string to make it look like it was tied around the R of Raining. I added a few additional elements and brushes from AP Spring Showers, including the large raindrops across the upper portion of the page. I added the CiniFilm overlay, and changed it to blend mode Divide to make it white. I added a variety of the new Bokeh No. 2, which are created as separate elements, to allow for changing their colors, blend modes, and/or placement (love that). I added the Spring WordART, and called it finished!!!
