first, i worked on the shapes that i eventually added color to ... and there must be an easier way! i created curved cornered (can you say that?) rectangles and filled them with grey (so i could see them...color is not important at this point). then, i took the same rectangle shape and made it smaller and stamped out a portion of the larger rectangle. didn't look quite right so i had to do some more work erasing. if i had to do it again, i would figure something else out. with the shapes done, i added the color (just go with what you like - i am sticking with a sixties color palette). the photo on the left is clipped to a mask. the photo on the right is under the colored layers. at this point, i changed the colors a little on each grouping to add a little interest and i added the splatter to break up the space on the right. the autograph is blended over the typed name.
