Duster

Journaling reads: The perfect quarter horse. A stout, muscular body, not too tall, a bold squared off face, a soft eye, a good kind horse, with cow smarts. He ended up with shoulder injuries while being used to round up stray cattle that had escaped the ranch, running through the streets of Julian. Despite these injuries, Patti saw his worth, and bought him. A calm horse, that didnt spook easily, and seemed to keep his eye out for his rider. He got along with all the horses, not allowing himself to be bullied, yet kind to all the others horses. I owned him for a number of years, cognizant of his past injuries, we watched out for each other. He came alive on the trail, truly loving the adventure of what might be around the next curve, but with no trailer, he seldom got it from me. I allowed him to be used for lessons, and upon hearing that a woman wished to own him, gave him to her. He is so pampered now, with lots of land to roam, and a sweet stable mate.

The Process: I received this photo from a friend, and loved it. It was not something that I could scrap within a frame, nor did I think I would like it blended unto a portion of a page, yet the size of it was such that I couldnt scrap it full 12x12. I ended up blending in unto the bottom of a neutral background paper, and then applied a series the new ArtsyTransfer Document (coming soon), as well as additional transfers, and brushes. The photo was placed in two layers, blending the first photo using a gradient mask, and then using the inverted masking method for the second. In between the two, I added a stainedGlow, changing the color slightly to a spring green. I broung in a number of the ArtsyTransfer Document, and played around with the placement and opacity of a number of their layers. I added a fotoblendz under the area where the journaling was going to do to lighten up the area enough for the journaling to be read. I added the large Duster vertically along the right edge, allowing it to slightly overlay Dusters main. I added the descriptive word strips along the left edge of the journaling, holding them down with two lines of urban stitches. I added the ScriptTease overlay, changing its color, and finished the page up with the patterned paper from AP Traveler, blending it mainly onto the upper portion of the page, and changing it to blend mode Linear Burn.
