inspired by some retro pieces by Barbara Houston http://digitalscrapperclasses.com/forums/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=76949&title=life-is-awesome&cat=1671. i really like "graphic style" pages and architecture lends itself to that style so i decided to try working with an old photo of the golden gate bridge. next, i think i will move on to new york.
i was wondering if i could take a black and white photo and get the bridge to its "international orange" color without painting the bridge. as it turned out, stamping a yellow artsypaint brush over the image and changing the blending mode to Vivid Light left the bridge red/orange and the lighter areas around the bridge yellow. next, i added some clouds over the existing clouds in the photo. some of the clouds are masked then areas deleted using a text brush (and that spot on the right is actually one of the homes that are famous in san francisco - it is stamped into one of the darker clouds). the sun is just a circle created with the marque tool, filled with yellow, and then a slight drop shadow.
