Process: I thought of the pink that my bridesmaids wore when I saw this beautiful palette. My photos arent in the best condition, the one in the mirror probably has the best white balance. It was one of two that my mother had hidden away. I began with the focal photo, making four copies copies and applying a texture, watercolor and posterization filter to each layer. I placed a fourth copy below on which I found the edges and changed it to multiply blend mode. Then I attached a black layer mask to each copy and used brushes to bring back in the color. I grouped the four layers, reduced the size and placed it on the left third grid line. I duplicated the original and placed it just below the posterization layer and painted back in a little of my face. I then placed the layers of psd transfer_1 below the photo. I deleted some layers and applied a layer mask to several layers to soften the edges. On the left, I applied the same filters to the second photo, using brushes on layer masks to mimic the texture in the focal photo. It took me several tries to get the background even close to the focal photo because the photos have yellowed with age. I finally desaturated it a little. Otherwise the process was essentially the same. I grouped the layers together and reduced the opacity to about 50%. Below and above this photo are layers from psd transfer 1 and 4. I recolored the little heart slightly and used it to ground the threads on the left. I used a mask to weave the heart threads into the word art. On the right, I layered the doily heart and shadow partially under heart thread_5. The splatter layer is above the focal photo, the paint below the rose layer of transfer_4. Then I went back to add layer masks and blend the transfers a little more into the photos. Im still not satisfied with what Ive created to represent what really was a beautiful day, feeling a little like I cant do it justice. But this has taken entirely too long and I need to let it go!
Linda, this is absolutely gorgeous! I understand the feeling of not doing it justice, though. I think I feel that way a lot when I use my older photos which are not always very clear. But being able to have the memories trumps having a beautifully clear photo to me!

Gorgeous layout Linda - such sweet journaling - love the remembering when you were little to your wedding day. So very special.

Beautiful journaling and photo! Love the framing and blended photo! A treasure for for granddaughter!

there are just some photos/moments that are so singular that, i think, no page will ever feel "finished" (maybe because the very act of finishing means something).
for the rest of us, this is gorgeous. i love the photo of you looking in the mirror. i can see why this is one your mother treasured.
