This woman appears in a lot of the photos I have and always in some interesting position.
When I found this photo, the first (and really only) thing that came to mind was Auntie Em and the Wizard of Oz.
So, off I went on my very own Oz adventure.

book page (scanned at home)
birds are also scanned and you will see them over and over again on my pages because i am going to use them to unify some of the images i have.
Bit of trivia ... the slippers Dorothy wears to get home are silver in the original story. They were changed to ruby slippers for the movie
process...
I thought I'd continue the discussion about using artsy papers as a design tool.
Based on the original photo, especially the orientation of the woman in the photo, I searched my artsy papers for one that had a diagonal flow. I chose artsy paper no.5 from ap for the record because of its flow and its color.
I tried to keep my design running along the diagonal of the paper. The original photo was a little hard to "understand" because I couldn't figure out what she was leaning on. the fence line and the horizon line didn't help much, so I eliminated the stuff beyond the fence line then masked the photo over the artsy paper. The rest of the page was inspired by my OZ theme. I think my favorite part of creating the page was making the sky. I used my favorite cloud brushes and mixed them with silver paint, the birds, and the fotoglow. I also used the clouds under the OZ. The brick brushes were a must, right? So, I added those to the right of the image where they might kind of look like part of a wall. The scanned text is blended under the photo layer with a book texture over it.
Thanks for looking
