Clue game from my sister
The mailman came to the door today to deliver a package. The box was square--just a bit too large to fit in the mailbox and nothing I had ordered. It was a plain cardboard box with a computer generated address label and your return address. This is what you and your DD, Sarah, had the plant running full speed since Thanksgiving to assemble. This was the gift sent to only a select few: your children, of course, your sisters (of which I am one), and??? With trepidation I cut through the packaging tape and folded back the flaps, one by one. I carefully lifted , from it's nest, an exquisite replica of the game, CLUE.
What a beauty--in each detail--an exact miniature!
Removing the cover reveals the magical contents. The playing board with it's maze of rooms, the tiny weapons, gleaned from all over the internet, the perfectly made scoring cards to keep track of the ongoing suspicions and the tiny pencil that proclaims "Merry Christmas 2014". And then I shuffle through the suspect cards each more precious than the next--beautifully photoshopped with your darling grandchildren in place of the villianous Mrs. White, Prof. Plum, Colonel Mustard, etc. The plant is silent now. Each paper, pen and exacto blade returned to it's resting place. Not even a mouse stirs and Alex is settled in for a long winter's nap--as it should be after the manufacture of a treasure. So roll the die...Let the games begin!!
with many tears, we know why we love you. the most beautiful page in the world. You get an "O"; a GSO; and so much more.
