Partridge in a Pear Tree

I hope to create a book of a number of the more cherished ornaments in my collections, and the story of each. We no longer put a large tree up, so I will have to get creative in how I scrap them.

Journaling reads: The ornament that started it all. My high school best friend Betsey, gave me this ornament for Christmas in 1972. A large blown glass pear with a foil tree and partridge carefully built inside, along with little green pears made of gems. It stands about 5 inch tall. I saw this as the beginning of a collection for future trees I would have as an adult. I continued to purchase one or more ornaments each year, carefully dating each one using a gold or silver paint pen. Each ornament has its own special story, and brings back wonderful memories of Christmas past. This one has special meaning not only because it is my first, but also because although I have not seen Betsey in years, each time a qaze at it, it puts her back into my life and heart.

I began with the neutral kardstock. I blended the photo unto the page using a watercolor brush. I added the ArtsyTransfer under the photo, moving portions of it around until satisfied with its placement. I added the WordTransfers under the photo, colorizing it a bit. I then brought in an ArtsyKard from Shabby Christmas, using portions of the kard, I blended them into the corner with the photo, and the opposite corner as well. I used the transform tool to lengthen the stripes, and blended and masked them to get the desired result. I added the title font, adding a stroke and shadow. I then took the folded background paper from AP Glance, and placed it on blend mode multiply. I rotated it 45 degrees and used the clone tool to extend the paper to the corners, and blended the edges to have the edge not be visible. I added the wordart, and the year with the glitter alpha. I finished up with the LoopDaLoop, recoloring it to red, and also added an edge overlay, recoloring it to green.

I love your journaling Joanie, this is beautiful, the title and glitter! I like your idea of creating a book of your ornaments, even if you don't put up a large tree now!!

Stunning page. I love the memories that many ornaments bring. I was just reflecting on some of ours today.

Wonderful idea! It will be a treasure for your children and grandchildren. Love how the ornament and journaling are on the left and the title spans the page. Gorgeous!
