Horse Play

The gray horse in this layout is Dusty (my dhs horse). The Palomino (Pecos) is the stable owners. Horses have to decide who is the herd leader, even if not in the wild. Pecos has never had much contact with other horses, so the stable owner asked if we would allow the two to play, so that Pecos might learn some pecking order skills. They really enjoy it, and although they rear up, and bite, and buck at each other, it is all in fun. Keep in mind, of course, the human is always the head of the herd, and when we enter the arena (whip in hand of course), they take note, and act accordingly. The whip is never intended to make contact, but it always amazes me that if they get real sassy, just a raise of the arm, or a point with the whip, and they stop dead in their tracks or change direction. Knowing that the average horse weighs 1200 pounds, it always amazes me that they dont just mow us over, but they are very respectful and docile and sassy creatures.

The Process: I began with an Artsy Paper from AP Glance. I added a fotoblenz from Abstract FotoBlendz No. 3, and attached the photo to it. I copied the photo and placed the copy under the FotoBlendz, and using the techniques learned in the new AnnaBlendz No. 4 Inverted Masking http://www.oscraps.com/shop/product.php?productid=10010902&cat=422&page=1, blended in additional portions of the photo. This photo layer was placed on blend mode Vivid Light. I created a third copy of the photo, and then again using the inverted blending techniques, blended in just the portions of the horses that I wanted to, to beat enhance the image. I then added a variety of the transfers from Artsy Transfers Glance, modifying/moving some of the layers. I added the LoopDaLoop, a few other elements, and the title to balance out the layout. I added the large polkadot paper, and placed it on blend mode Multiply, and then again using the Inverted Masking technique, blended in just a portion of the dot pattern in the lower left of the layout. I finished up with the SandScratched Overlay, which I placed on blend mode Divide.
