We thought the mute swans were absolutely beautiful and serene. We learned that they are aggressive and considered a danger to native wildlife and wetland habitat. They even attack humans in boats and on the shore. They were originally brought to the U.S. to decorate parks and estates.

They are beautiful. There must be a reason for the aggressive behavior. I wonder what it is. Protecting their habitat?

They're fiercely territorial and especially destructive to the wetlands. They are from Eurasia, and maybe there are more controls on their population in that part of the world.
