While the front and the interior of our apartment were really beautiful and elegant, the courtyard was quite an echo chamber. However, that was not so much of an issue when people were making dinner etc. but what was enough noise to keep me up a lot of the nights was the girl in the next apartment who played music into the wee hours. Apparently the apartment above ours also was having a weekend party which involved the moving of a lot of furniture in addition to live music.
The next day I was not up for much of anything but by evening we did go out for dinner. I saw this wonderful set menu of the season with artichokes in every course but decided to pass on that as I wasnt THAT hungry. Another year perhaps.
I settled on steak tartare, always a good choice in an area that specializes in their beef as the Piedmont does, with sauted red endive. Dick had a hard time translating the menu and was not happy with his pasta with scampi as he doesnt like to touch his food. His grilled fish did suit him as he didnt have to do the deboning. No pizza for him this night! I also enjoyed the tables of young men who it turned out to be students from the optometry college who take their meal at that restaurant. Some talked a lot to each other and one or two sat in silence. Kind of sad to see.
