It was cold and windy on the beach. In fact the locals said it was a nor'easter. Gulls looked funny with their feathers very ruffled, sticking out all over. We wore jackets and didn't understand why a few people were still sitting on the beach under an umbrella on such a day. But by the end of our stay we understood. We too wanted to look up from a book and take it all in one last time.
