For the family album - that chubby little grump in the pram is me and beside me is my cousin Valery. We have always been close, both only children so we look on each other as the sisters neither of us had!
I started by duplicating the B/W photograph twice then extracted the figures from the background; the figures were then duplicated again, top layer set at hard light. The background I changed to B/W then find edges then fiddled about with Curves until I got the sketchy look I wanted. I then masked it and revealed the bits I wanted using a watercolour brush with low opacity. I layered a Modgrunge fotoblendz behind the figures masked with blue and then layer set to Multiply. I used part of another Modgrunge coloured yellow for the sun. The colour on the photographs was achieved by using an Autumn elegance transfer on saturation mode and then erasing from around the faces. They were coloured in much the same way using a transfer from Retro holiday set on colour mode and fill at 53%. The rest of the colour is achieved using transfers from Vintage summer on Hard light and colour mode. The circles are an overlay from retro Holiday, re-coloured and re-sized. I added the date in an Alpha and a little orange button to balance the composition.
