The Process
This is an old photo of my husband that his father carried in his wallet until the day he died. It was in rough shape, but I wanted to preserve it with all it's worn edges and surface just as it is, because it obviously was treasured.

I chose a neutral background paper that had the "vintage" look to match the color of my photo from AP Wanderlust. I selected a multimedia frame, rotated it and clipped my photo to the mask. I duplicated the photo and changed the blending mode to screen with a reduced opacity. There was a note written on the back of the photo that I wanted to include on the page. I scanned this, increased the contrast, and extracted the lighter color, leaving the handwriting. I placed the frame from AP Remember behind the multimedia frame, added several transfers with the blending mode changed to hard light. I extracted the image from the second photo changing the blending mode to color burn and clipped a transfer (blending mode color burn) to it for some textured. Then framed it with the blending mode changed to hard light. Stitches, elements, label words, word art, and banner were added to complete the page.

OMGosh! What a treasure of a photo. And, what a gorgeous page you've created around it. I really like the way you placed the heavier frame behind the photo, rather than the photo in it. I have to steal that idea, as I'm not much for wide or heavy frames.

so very precious... we have a special photo that is well loved... this is why we memory keep... your neutral touches are perfect as well as the muted photo and embellies... so sweet...

Oh I agree it's hard to know what to do with a heavy frame but this is a lovely solution.

I love how you kept the word art and labels small in keeping with the subject. The photos are pure treasure.

What a treasure you preserved so lovingly! Love how you extracted the handwriting. priceless...

wow! this is fabulous!!!!!!
i love the faded photo and the memory that goes with it and that you had the second photo to blend behind it. i also love the blending of the page.
