Journaling reads: The guest house at Patti and Johns. They moved into this portion of their house while they rebuilt the rest of their home. Where the guest house use to be separate from the main house, it is now connected, and has become an office, guest bedroom and den/media room. The new portion of the home is up to date with finishes, but I am glad that they kept the old, rustic, and western look to this older portion of their home, with the old milk cans, metal signs, coke icebox, old plow, wagon and wheels, and the like. It was once a chicken coup and farm hands bunk house - hard to believe, but so very cool.

Font: expressions of the soul
The Process: Believe it or not, I began with one of the new Baby Templates, using the clipping masks, and repositioning them and merging them for use with the photo. I also used some of the various stain, stitch, and textures from the template as well. The photo I was using was extremely dark, which, for me, happens a lot. I took the clipping mask, and placed it on blend mode hard light, and it lightened up the photo dramatically, but still kept it looking natural. I then duplicated the photo, and detached it from the clipping mask, brightened it up using the shadows and highlights command, and then curved, and then painted in just some of the dark areas of the photo. I took a third copy of the photo, and using just curves, painted in just a bit over the wagon, as it had become too light and a bit washed out. I then began adding the various transfers, scripttease brushes, elements and stitches, and the warmglow. I finished up by adding the journaling and then the scalloped portion of the page, by placing a solid under the layout, added the clipping mask for the scallops, and then once the paper was clipped to it, added the scalloped stitches.
